Demonstrate understanding of a variety of extended written and/or visual Korean texts
In this standard, students read and make sense of longer Korean texts — things like articles, conversations, and visual materials. The goal is to show you truly understand what the texts mean, not just translate words. You need to explain what's going on, support your answer with details from the text, and (for top grades) pick up on ideas that aren't directly stated.
You understand the general gist of the texts. You can pick out some basic facts but your answers may lack detail, be a bit unclear, or contain some contradictions where you've misunderstood parts.
You clearly understand the texts. Your answers are supported by relevant details from the text and are unambiguous. However, your responses may not go deep enough — you might translate accurately but not fully connect or integrate the ideas.
You thoroughly understand the texts, including meanings that are hinted at rather than directly stated. You pull together details from across the whole text, integrate them convincingly, and draw insightful conclusions.
