Te tautohu i ngā āhuatanga matua o te kaitiakitanga me te hononga ki te oranga
This Level 1 Hauora (Health) standard is taught in Māori-medium schools using Te Marautanga o Aotearoa. Students explore kaitiakitanga — the Māori concept of guardianship and stewardship of the natural world, cultural treasures, and resources — and explain how it connects to wellbeing (oranga). Students look at what kaitiakitanga means, who practises it, how it has been practised historically and today, and why it matters for the health and wellbeing of people, whānau, hapū, and iwi.
