Produce a dance to realise a concept
Produce a dance to realise a concept
This standard asks you to choreograph and perform an original dance that communicates a clear concept or idea. You'll need to work through the full creative process—choosing your stimulus, developing your concept, selecting movement and design choices, rehearsing, and presenting the finished piece. Your concept, choreography, and design decisions (like costumes, lighting, sound) should all work together to make your dance meaningful and engaging.
You produce a dance with a clear concept, use basic choreographic principles like repetition and variation, and make design choices that are appropriate to your idea.
You produce a dance where choreographic principles like contrast and balance are applied thoughtfully, and both your choreography and design decisions actively support and communicate your concept.
You produce a dance where complex principles like climax and unity are woven throughout, and every choreographic and design choice is integral to developing and expressing your concept through careful evaluation and refinement.
