You need to read and understand extended Japanese texts (written texts, visual texts like screenshots or images, or a combination) and answer questions that ask you to identify information, explain what's happening, and make connections between different parts of the texts. This isn't just about translating individual sentences—you need to understand the overall meaning, pick up on ideas that aren't directly stated, and use evidence from the text to back up your answers.
You identify some key vocabulary and answer at least one question with basic information, but your answers are brief, incomplete, or just list facts without much detail.
You clearly understand the text, answer all parts of the questions, and link together pieces of information from different parts of the text with supporting details.
You thoroughly understand the text's full meaning including what's implied but not directly stated, you connect and explain your ideas with detailed evidence from the text, and you justify why you've drawn the conclusions you have.
