Compose two substantial pieces of music
NZQA suppresses grade rates for low-cohort standards.
You need to compose two pieces of music from scratch that are substantial enough to show real development of your musical ideas. Each piece must be submitted with both an audio recording and written/visual documentation (like sheet music, chord charts, or notation) that shows what you intended to create. You can work alone or as part of a small group (2–5 people).
You compose two pieces that are complete and substantial enough to sustain musical ideas in an extended structure, with both audio and appropriate visual representation.
Your two pieces show coherent development and structure of musical ideas with clear style and character, and your representations effectively convey your compositional intent.
Your two pieces are skilfully developed and structured with stylistic assurance and flair, demonstrating control and impact, with representations that convincingly communicate your compositional intent.
