Demonstrate understanding of the relationship between a microorganism and the environment
This standard asks you to show you understand how microorganisms interact with their environment. You'll look at what a microorganism does (like how it feeds or reproduces), describe the environmental conditions around it, and explain how changes in those conditions affect the microorganism—or vice versa.
You describe what a microorganism does and describe an environmental factor that affects it, using observations to back up your ideas.
You explain how a change in the environment causes a specific effect on what the microorganism does, making the connection clear.
You analyse both directions: how the environment affects the microorganism AND how the microorganism affects its environment, showing it's a two-way relationship.
