Demonstrate understanding of the application of strategies in group movement
This internal standard (meaning your school assesses it, not an external exam) is worth 5 credits. You take part in group movement activities — like team sports, dance, or other physical activities with three or more people — and you show that you understand the strategies (plans of action) your group uses. A key requirement is that you must also talk about kotahitanga, a Māori concept meaning unity, togetherness, and collective action, and how it connects to what your group does.
Describe what strategies your group used and give a reason why. Use examples from your activity. You also need to mention kotahitanga somewhere in your work.
Go further by explaining how and why the strategies were used — not just what they were. Your examples need to clearly show your thinking about the connection between the strategy and the outcome. Your discussion of kotahitanga needs to be linked to how the strategies were applied.
Make a judgement about how effective the strategies were. Did they work well? Why or why not? What does that tell you? Your conclusions need to be backed up by solid examples, and your discussion of kotahitanga should be woven into your overall evaluation, not just mentioned briefly.
