Demonstrate understanding of a science-informed response to a local issue
This standard asks you to pick a local issue that people disagree about, explain what science says about it, and show that you understand how this science perspective fits with other people's viewpoints. You need to show that you're being responsible and caring (tiakitanga) in how you approach the issue and the science-based response to it.
You describe the relevant science idea, outline another perspective on the issue, and name a science-informed response, plus show you understand being responsible in your science practice.
You explain how the science idea supports a particular perspective on the issue, explain the other perspective, explain what the science-informed response involves, and discuss why both perspectives matter.
You analyse and discuss why both the science perspective and the other perspective are important to the overall science-informed response, showing deeper thinking about how they work together.
