Analyse methods and ideas from established sculpture practice
This standard asks you to research and analyze how established sculptors work and develop their ideas. You'll study at least three artists from at least two different sources, then explain the methods they use, why they make work the way they do, and how their work is understood and valued. It's about going beyond just describing sculptures—it's about understanding the thinking and techniques behind them.
You identify methods and ideas from established sculptors, describe the features of their work, and explain how and why they make their art the way they do.
You gather information from multiple sources and use specific examples to support your discussion of particular methods and ideas, showing you've dug deeper into understanding the artists.
You explain why it matters how these sculptors work and what they make, connect their approaches to wider social, political, historical, or geographic contexts, and present independent research with your own evaluation and supported conclusions.
